Ajay
was born in Toronto 25 years ago and just 4 weeks later his wacky parents
spirited him away. After a short time in Nova Scotia to welcome his younger
brother into the world his family settled in Ottawa where Ajay’s
bizarre sense of creativity grew from a lack of interesting things to
do.
After a few auditions in Montreal, Ajay landed gigs on YTV's Lassie, Are You
Afraid of the Dark and Big Wolf On Campus as well as regular voice-over stints
on cartoons such as Arthur, Little Lulu, Caillou and a steady diet of radio and
TV commercial V/O.
A few weeks before his 17th birthday he began doing improvisational comedy at
The iNSTiTUTiON while work shopping under iNSTiTUTiON owner and Second City alumni
Ken Godmere. While still performing at The iNSTiTUTiON he continued to take small
roles in both television and film.
Then, 5 days after turning 18, Ajay was shipped off to Beijing China! There he
provided voices for a series of educational videos distributed across China to
teach English to children. During the 30 days he spent there he logged more than
200 hours in the studio doing a variety of character voices from young Lee Ming
to Danny the Dinosaur.
After his 20th birthday Ajay returned to Toronto to study comedy at Humber
College and a month before his 21st birthday he graduated from the
post-grad comedy program complete with a nomination for the Phil Hartman Award.
A week before his 23rd birthday, Ajay completed the conservatory improvisational
training program offered at The
Second City Toronto. There he studied under Lisa Merchant,
Melody Johnson and Shari Hollett.
A month after that he became the host of the Saturday morning block
of programming on YTV known as CRUNCH. After almost two years in the
captains chair of Crunch and only a few weeks after his 25th birthday
Ajay accepted the position as anchor of SPACE Channel’s “The
Circuit”
Now with his own creativity serving as both his only resource and restriction,
he sets out to conquer the world, space, and everything beyond.
